Education

Education

Literacy is the one of the most important goals of education. Literacy means to be able to read and write. According to UNESCO, approximately 1 billion people around the world are illiterate. The picture is worse in the third world countries where education is not among the priorities of the governments. There are rural areas in the poor countries where there are no schools for children to go to. If there are any, they lack the proper materials and a qualified staff. Illiteracy for the people of third world countries means that they don’t have an opportunity to gain higher education and live a prosperous life in which they could realize their dreams.

The governments in developing poor countries either don’t have enough funds for education or the funds are misused for other purposes. These governments spend only a meager chunk of the total GDP on education. Most of the time these governments can’t persuade themselves to accept the fact that education is the foundation for a country’s progress.

That’s where the role of charities and other welfare organizations start. In the first place, our aim is to make sure there are proper schools for those poor children. We want to provide them with proper buildings adequate for study and equip them with the basic materials needed for schooling such as textbooks, chairs, desks, chalks, boards, paper, etc. We will also try to provide these schools with computers, libraries and scientific equipment which are almost non-existent in those places.

One of the problems is the availability of quality teachers in these schools. Most of the time, it is difficult to find qualified teachers in the rural areas. Even if there are such teachers, they are paid so little that they don’t want to work in such institutions. We plan to attract the most competent teachers in order to make sure that quality education is imparted to the unfortunate children.

We intend to make sure that the children are given such education that will make them aware of the social, economic and environmental changes taking place around them. The idea is to help individuals acquire education for a successful life and to make sure that they work for the development of the community in the long run to make it independent of external assistance.
