Health

Health

Despite unprecedented advancement in the field of health in the previous century, millions of people are killed by diseases such as Tuberculosis, AIDS, malaria etc every year in the poor countries of the world.

Approximately 1 billion people lack access to healthcare system. Every year more than 1 million children aged less than 5 die from malnutrition and other diseases which are mostly preventable and controllable. Tuberculosis causes 13 million people every year, with 94 million cases registered new year. Malaria kills a little under a million people every year.

These are some of the figures which are enough to clear the larger picture in the poor countries of the planet. These countries are facing severe healthcare challenges. Too many factors are responsible for this sorry state of matters.

Many developing countries are struggling to give universal healthcare support to the people, but they fail to do so because of a lack of sufficient funds or their inappropriate use.

The major problem facing these countries is poverty. People in these countries can’t afford healthcare because they don’t have enough to make ends meet. This is particularly true of the Sub-Saharan African countries where families strive to provide themselves with enough food. These people aren’t able to provide themselves with proper healthcare because of the scarcity of their financial resources, and if they do have any, an adequate healthcare results in poverty for them. This is a horrible paradox that they face.

Some of the inappropriate policies of the global financial organizations have also resulted in the poor nations not being able to provide universal healthcare. Privatization is also one of the factors responsible. Corruption is also one of the ever-increasing problems in those nations, which result in wrong health policies and embezzlement of much needed funds.

One of the other issues is these countries is brain-draining. Those educated in health in the poor countries are attracted by the richer countries of the world with the result that that these poor countries dangerously lack qualified medical staff: specialists, doctors, nurses .one of the major reasons for this trend is that the poor countries can’t afford the right kind of compensation to them because of a lack of funds
