Solar Energy

Solar Energy

Africa is gifted with plentiful sunlight 365 days on average. Nevertheless, 85% of the population is living without electricity. Either the governments do not have the necessary funds available for the installation and maintenance of electric equipment or they are not willing to provide it.

According to the World Bank 2010 report, 1.6 billion people in developing countries live without access to electricity.

They use candles and old-fashioned lanterns for lighting. Electric fans are a dream for them! The villages are drowned in darkness at night except for the little rays of light from their candles.

We want to provide these remote and inaccessible areas with electricity by setting up solar energy panels, so that these communities can have cheap electricity to meet their daily lighting needs.

Solar power is the best solution for these areas. It is clean and does not require any fuel. It is environmentally friendly, modular, and silent. Furthermore, solar energy does not consist of any moving parts so there is very little wear and tear.

We will install solar energy panels in those areas where the residents show an interest in them and are willing to work with our team through the installation process.

The community will be responsible for the protection, maintenance and repair of the panels. Our teams will give the locals training in the operation, maintenance, repair, etc., of the equipment, and they will be in charge of running the whole system.

Households that will be willing to have an electricity connection will have to pay a nominal monthly bill. The idea behind the bill is to give these households a sense of ownership.

The money from the billing will be used for paying the maintenance team If there are any funds left after the salaries are paid, that amount will be saved for installation of new solar panels because they have to be changed almost every 10 years.

The remainder of funds for installing the new equipment will be provided by our organization. We are not sure if we can lighten up all the dark nights in those unlit

villages but we do know that we do bring a ray of sunshine and a brightened futureā€¦
